How Does Mobile Website Design Work?
Our mobile website design packages use a relatively new technique known as "responsive design". Responsive web design allows website to morph themselves to any sized screen.
Responsive web design in action
You can see responsive design in action using this very website that you are currently reading. If you are viewing this site on a mobile phone or a tablet PC, then you will already be seeing an optimised responsive version of the site - congratulations! However, if you are viewing on a normal PC or laptop, you can still see how responsive design works. First click on the button on the top right of you web browser (next to the red cross) to make the browser into a window, then click and drag the right hand edge of the browser window to adjust it's width. As you gradually reduce the width of the site, you will see various changes, including text resizing, images resizing and even some not-so-important text dissapearing. At this stage you are seeing the site at about the width of a smart pad screen:
If you continue to reduce the browser width, you will notice that the page starts to rearrange itself in order to fit the width. The "Request a Quote" button slides underneath the Freshpage logo and the features columns rearange themselves vertically, instead of being in three columns. At this stage, the site is about the width of most mobile phone devices:
You may also have noticed that the menu has dissapeared and has been replaced by a menu icon, which brings up the full menu when tapped. This is a key feature of mobile web design, because it allows people who are viewing the site on small devices to have a user friendly way to access the menu, without any horizontal scrolling.
